Transdisciplinary paper arguing that evolution does not select brains towards veridicality, but rather towards evolutionary fitness. The abstract claims to tie it in with predictive processing ideas.
Questions before I read:
is truth fit?
how are you characterising fitness? in what environments?
do you narrow your idea of fitness enough to be computationally useful? (I'd be surprised. this is too broad a paper.)
Related concepts for which I'd like to clarify the relationship further:
predictive processing
satisficing
adversarial neural networks
coevolution
exaptation (in particular, because of the way the introduction discusses the tapetum lucidum; and also because I think exaptation is cool and useful)
