strategic encoding
The notion that knowledge implicitly coded into "the way we do things" in a locale - the extant configurations of resources and the (in some cases explicit) code that distributes them, is deposited there by the strategic interactions of agents in that locale, much as a river carries and deposits silt according to the fluid dynamics of flowing water with varying levels of silt in it, which dynamics can be recovered by examining the river's (evolving, stabilising, responsive) path of flow.
